I thought Gtk-0.25 was the latest according to the link given
in Test::Unit's documentation, i.e.,

but alas! there is already a 0.27 version available from,

  http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/raa-list.rhtml?name=Ruby%2FGTK

Someone needs to update the former web page on ruby-lang.org?

However, after installing and sucessfully running the tests that ship
with the new version of ruby-gtk, I am still getting a similar font
assertion failures as before (and found some new instance warnings
by invoking my test case from an emacs shell), e.g.,

FWIW, line 55 is part of the TestRunner's setup_ui method, viz,
