Subject: gems not loading on mac 10.5.6

Hi,

It seems like my gems are not being loaded, i.e. when i require a gem i
get an error "no such file to load.."

I still get this error even if i do:

$LOAD_PATH << "/Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems"
require 'ruby-debug'

This is happening for all of the gems i have installed.

env:
mac os x 10.5.6
ruby 1.8.6 patch 114
rubygems: 1.3.5


any thoughts?
