It's bundled with Chris> "The Ruby Way" at Amazon. Is it worthwhile? I've got both "The Ruby Way" and "Ruby Developer's Guide". There is some overlap between the two, but the focus of "The Ruby Way" seems to be on using _Ruby_ itself (how to use hashes, regexps, etc). The focus of the developers guide seems to be on how to use Ruby _with_ something else (e.g. using Ruby with Databases, using Ruby with XML, using Ruby with distributed processing). Overlap occurs in some places (e.g. both cover GUIs), but each book really does have its own focus. True Story: I just started a project at work (in Java) that will be using SOAP. Since I have only cursory knowledge about SOAP, I wanted to do some prototyping in Ruby. I grabbed the Soap4r library, but the docs seemed a little sketchy. Checking out the "Ruby Developers Guide", I discovered it had an extensive example of using the Soap4r library with a good discussion covering creating both clients and servers using SOAP.
