From: Kero van Gelder Date: 2002-03-14T08:28:35+09:00 Subject: Problem cross compiling Ruby Hello, When I cross compile ruby 1.6.7 on i386 for arm, I encountered the following problem: When using --prefix=/usr the Makefile places -I/usr/include in the CPPFLAGS. For the cross compiler, this is the wrong directory, but it tries to take various header files from there, before it looks in its own directories. Arm-linux-gcc breaks down on unknown assembler. For local install (non cross compiling) this include seems a useful option, since prefix defaults to /usr/local, the place where extra packages are put in some (older) schemes. For cross compiling, the prefix is good, but I can not think of a good default for the include; It certainly is not /usr/local/include. Perhaps we should drop it altogether? Bye, Kero. PS: work-around: --includedir=. +--- Kero ------------------------------ kero@chello.nl ---+ | Don't split your mentality without thinking twice | | Proud like a God -- Guano Apes | +--- M38c ------- http://members.chello.nl/~k.vangelder ---+
