Use Hash#update:

 >> class MyHash < Hash; end
=> nil
 >> h = {1=>2}
=> {1=>2}
 >> mh = MyHash.new
=> {}
 >> mh.update h
=> {1=>2}
 >> mh.class
=> MyHash
