I added something like
y = lambda { |h,k| h[k] = Hash.new(&y) }

$DATA = Hash.new(&y)

But I do not understood why to add
y = lambda { |h,k| h[k] = Hash.new(&y) }

Please explain. I am newbie to Ruby and coming from Perl.
