From: Kenny Tilton Date: 2002-03-08T11:19:20+09:00 Subject: newbie Q: managing a multi-file Ruby project, win32 I am interested in porting a neat little constraints contrib from Lisp to Ruby. It consists of about thirty field in three directories, two of which would be modules in Ruby (they are packages in Lisp). I download a Ruby for Win package and after some puzzlement have hit upon this way of working: Edit .rb files in SciTE or RubyWin Load and test in a RubyWin IRB window Question 1: Is that the right way to go? I could not make out how to run Ruby from SciTE, though I saw tempting menu items to that effect. Question 2: So how would I manage a multi-file project? Do I... .... have one .rb that loads the others? Then after changing/saving source I go back to the IRB window of RubyWin, re-load that source, then run again? That is not the end of the world, I am just hoping for some mechanism that would automate the re-load of changed source, ie by identifying which had changed and re-loading those. Any other ideas on how to live with multi-file projects would be welcome. thx -- kenny tilton clinisys, inc --------------------------------------------------------------- "Be the ball...be the ball...you're not being the ball, Danny." - Ty, Caddy Shack
