Subject: How to avoid \ escaping when using "= <<-EOF" ?

Hi, the following code

banner = <<-EOF
/\/
EOF
puts banner
----------------------

produces:

----------------------
//
----------------------


How could I avoid the "\" scaping so the text appears verbatim?
