From: Matt Armstrong Date: 2002-03-08T05:58:50+09:00 Subject: What are the Ruby 1.8 plans? There have been two recent threads about slow Ruby IO under Win32 where the answer was "use ruby 1.7, IO is much faster." Then somebody suggested back porting the faster IO to Ruby 1.6. But I would rather see that effort put into releasing 1.8. What is the status of Ruby 1.8? Is Ruby 1.7 in bug fix mode, or are things till changing rapidly? Is Ruby 1.8 waiting for m18n or another large feature? Just curious about what the future brings. I am afraid to make my code depend on Ruby 1.7 features if it will not be released for a long time. :-) -- matt
