Subject: Ruby 1.6.7 configure confused by AIX with GCC

The default configuration for AIX with GCC fails when building Ruby.
Versions: AIX 4.2.1, GCC 3.0.4, Ruby 1.6.7.

When I try to build Ruby, configure sets a loader flag to "-brtl",
which is fine for AIX cc, but not for gcc, which configure chose to use.
Below are the following:
1) excerpts from the output of "make"
2) AIX stanza from configure

However, this does work:
	./configure --without-gcc

How *should* configure behave when GCC is found?
1) Use AIX cc (--without-gcc)
2) Use GCC (adjust loader options)

I'll be happy to test any configure patches.
