Sorry, I don't know how we can measure that.  ruby-list is really more
active than Japanese speaking Python mailing list, but it is not
enough as an evidence because Guido is not a member of Japanese Python
ml :-)

On magazines in Japan, I know 3 serializations about Ruby and I'll
start another one in the near future whereas I don't know any
serializations about Python, but it is not enough too because Python
may have been known already owing to very pretty translations of the
great Python documents.

I heard that a Japanese distribution of Linux `Kondara' adopts Ruby as
one of its standard scripting languages <URL:http://www.kondara.org/>.
Their bulletin board is powered by RuBBS, which is a BBS written in
Ruby by Tadashi Tada.  But it is not enough too again, perhaps. 

I think the rumor should be kept as a simple rumor at this stage.
