Well, 2 goes into 5 leaving only one.  I can't say with absolute certainty
because I haven't tried in awhile, but the % operator *should* give you a
floating point remainder, if you used it in an operation where the remainder
is not an integer.  However, in the example you gave, the remained is a
whole number any way you slice it.
