Thanks, but that was just an artiifact of kmail, the line didn't actually 
have a carriage-return in the middle.

This was really frustrating. I volunteered to do this in Ruby because I 
thougth the facility worked and would be a good demo of Ruby's capabilities 
for the QA people.  Instead, it's now being done in Python.

For each release, we try to test mutliple versions of Netscape 4.x to make 
sure our pages still display correctly.  I scored a big win for Ruby by 
figuring out that this could be done for Internet Explorer using win32ole.  
So much better than having a tester click through pages.  I could not figure 
out how to get Netscape to work with win32ole, so I tried using the system 
command. with rundll  There's got to be a way to make either win32ole or 
system work, but I just ran out of time.

It's a useful problem to figure out though.  Despite HTML checkers, our 
biggest cost, after development, is this simple verification process.  Not 
just the cost of checking, but the fact that we have twice been informed of 
pages that would not display at all in old versions of Netscape after we'd 
done the release - by our customers.

In any case, thanks and if you have any other ideas please pass them on.  I'd 
like to take another shot at this before the next release!
