Well, I was playing with TUX, writing modules for it, and I started
writing one for ruby and one for perl, and I really thought perl's
embedding API was more complete (although it's an order of magnitude
uglier). 
Alas, this is why I can't get totally rid of perl, i find mod_perl much
more mature than mod_ruby...
Another thing: is ruby going to have a VM, like perl's Parrot? Perhaps
even Parrot itself?.
