Also strongly disagree. But ok, this is a matter of opinion.

Yes, I think he do have the "right to vanish", but my concern is not
"track him down" or kind of "hunt" him, just know if he's ok.
A "he's fine" should be enough for me. :-)

I don't know him personally, but he helped me a lot with all his work
when I was learning Ruby and seems to be a very nice person.
And seems that somebody already tried to call the number on the whois
of his domains: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=773405
