Am I correct in assuming that all I would need is the gtk.so compiled 
using MSVC instead of Cygwin in order to make it work with the new 
distribution?

If this is the case, would anyone be willing to compile this and make it 
available for those of us without MSVC (and also those of us who don't 
know diddly about compiling an extension under Windows  :)  )?
