What OS are you running? Dual boot WinME&LinMandrake, but I use only WinME daily. Could I get it to work in Win? Mandrake: [tobi@localhost tobi]$ ruby --version ruby 1.6.4 (2001-06-04)[i686-linux] [tobi@localhost tobi]$ irb irb(main):001:0> '' "\366\344\374\337" irb(main):002:0> 'arrow up for back in history:'^[OA^[OA "arrow up for back in history:" [tobi@localhost tobi]$ 1. I get "\366" instead of "" 2. IRB quits by itself. 3. How do I go back in the line history? On Win/IRB, I use arrow up, and arrow left/rihgt to navigate a line. In Mandrake/(bash(?))/IRB, those don't work (I only see ^[OA etc.equiv.). 4. The stuff from the console has no linebreaks when pasted into "Advanced Editor" Any tips? If that's considered OT, I appreciate offlist mails by Linux/Mandrake wizards :) 5. I can't save this document ("sorry; an error occured while trying to write this document"); I have to su root to go online (the Mandrake dialer hangs all the time); I can't paste this text into GEdit; ... 6. I chose Mandrake for ease of use ... (as with Ruby) There are many other problems with Mandrake, which make me consider Mac OS X; it seems to be very elegant. And until I have that money, WinME is OK, most of the time. (and stuff like http://www.xmlspy.com/ (xml editor) and http://www.jasc.com/products/webdraw/ (svg editor) runs only on Win) Tobi -- * peace&love. * http://www.pinkjuice.com/
