Subject: IPSocket.getaddress and signals


  Hi,

  Does anyone know why signals are not handled while in
  IPSocket.getaddress ?  I can get signals handled if I install the
  signal handler via a C extension, but when I define them like:

  trap("SIGUSR1") {
    puts "handler called: (#{Time.now})"
  }

  Then they are not called until the IPSocket.getaddress() call times
  out.

  Here's an example name that always seems to time out on me:

require 'socket'

trap("SIGUSR1") {
  puts "handler called: (#{Time.now})"
}

while true
  begin
    puts  IPSocket.getaddress("0-------------------------------------------------------------0.NET")
  rescue
    puts $!
  end
end
