From: Joel VanderWerf Date: 2002-02-19T12:06:25+09:00 Subject: the proc argument to Marshal.load Something's funny about the second arg to Marshal.load: Marshal.load((Marshal.dump [0.5,1,[2],"three"]), proc {|x| p x}) ==> [] 0.5 [] "three" [0.5, 1, [2], "three"] ## this is return value, not output of 'p x' I guess 1 and 2 never showed up because they're immediate values, whereas 0.5 is boxed, though it has immutable value semantics. Is this a bug? Why didn't [2] show up? And why didn't the whole array show up? Well, I guess they both did, but before values were restored to them. That accounts for the two []. What is this behavior for? Wouldn't you rather work with the deserialized object than with the blank object before it is restored? I notice the proc argument isn't mentioned in RiaN--is it deprecated? -- Joel VanderWerf California PATH, UC Berkeley mailto:vjoel@path.berkeley.edu Ph.
