Rinn and Perl CORBA::ORBit

Good evening,

great authorities that be, how compliant are Ruby's and Perl's bindings
to ORBit? Is it possible yet to make simple clients written in one of 
the languages interact with simple servers written in the other and vice
versa?

I have tried to make the client below (please feel free to suggest 
improvments on its Ruby idiomaticness) talk to a simple Perl server,
but it chokes on the IOR of the server object:

The Rinn-version is the latest from SourceForge (i.e. from last summer).
