I think I prefer that sort of portability (with the UI abstracted away making it easy to change) than making your own dog-slow system like Mozilla. Mozilla is actually supposed to be an application platform, though; there are a few IDE's etc that target it, as well as the mailer/newsreader/browser/IRC client/etc. Maybe worth investigating embedding Ruby in there, although I'm not sure how the GPL will interact with Mozilla or code that runs under such a system. > It renders everything pretty much the same as IE and I don't think > I've yet noticed any problems there that were related to incorrect > implementation of the spec. It's more likely to be the other way around.. IE5, for instance, gets the CSS box model wrong and means authors have to do nasty hacky workarounds to fix it, and then do another hacky workaround to unbreak the fix for other browsers that do get it right but get tricked by said workaround... -- Thomas 'Freaky' Hurst - freaky@aagh.net - http://www.aagh.net/ - QOTD: "I sprinkled some baking powder over a couple of potatoes, but it didn't work."
