It's a bit easier to write a JIT from a bytecode version of a 
program, FWIW. Not hugely so, but easier nonetheless. If JITting is a 
goal, then bytecode's a good step on the way. If it's not, or you're 
using someone else's JIT (like Parrot's, nudge nudge :) then don't 
sweat it.
