Do you have any > benchmarks for simple code that just does hash and array manipulation? I'm *hoping* it'll speed up execution time, but it's unlikely to make much impact on hash or array based benchmarks. This is because BCR uses Ruby's own implementation of hashes and arrays (and all the other standard library objects, including classes). It might eventually shave a bit of time off such benchmarks, but that'll only be because method calling has become slightly faster, and not because of any speed-up in the underlying implementation of hashes and arrays, which I'm not intending to touch. There is a little benchmark included in example.rb - run 'ruby example.rb go' to see the results. I'm not going to publish them here because it's not comparing like with like: BCR doesn't yet implement the proper Ruby language (eg no argument count or private / protected status checks), and so gets an advantage over the standard Ruby interpreter. On the other hand, BCR hasn't been optimised at all yet, and there's plenty of scope for optimisations. But please try it yourself and draw your own conclusions! -- George
