[ANN] ByteCodeRuby 0.1.0

The latest  version of ByteCodeRuby is now available from the RubyVM project
on SourceForge
(http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=26000). It does a
good bit more than the previous version (0.0.1, released just before
Christmas), but my hacking time is limited, so progress is fairly slow. If
anyone would like to help out, I'd love to hear from you! Particularly
appreciated: any help with integrating BCR with Ruby's garbage collector, or
with understanding the details of how exceptions (and other non-local jumps)
are implemented. I'd also really like to hear if anyone's managed to run it
(or not...) on a non-x86 box. Thanks!

What is it?
-----------
The very, very beginnings of a bytecode interpreter for Ruby.

It consists of a (minor) patch to Ruby 1.6.5's eval.c and node.h, a C
extension and some Ruby code. It's currently at a very experimental stage
(you won't be able to run your favourite Ruby script with it) and can be
'used' in two ways:

- you can compile a very limited subset of Ruby to bytecode, and then run
the bytecode. You can write methods (though they can't have arguments yet),
use local variables, call methods implemented in C or bytecode and create
while loops.

- you can write bytecode assembly language. This gives access to a few more
facilities (methods can take arguments; blocks can be passed to bytecode
methods; the bytecode methods can yield results) but is obviously a lot
fiddlier than writing Ruby.
