For example, Henry Ford tried to start a new fab for electric cars, right in the middle of the Model T era. The new fab had a mysterious fire. Prescott Bush, in the same region, was Big Oil's chief fixer back then. 'Nuff said. It's not the technology doing it, folks - it's the lobbyists and corruption.
