Here's what I'm trying to do: read & process big text files and store structured data to a BDB::Recno database with db.push. Problem: Initially it runs very fast, then it gets exponentially slower. Also, a lot of memory gets eaten up (ca. 300MB, text files are ca. 15MB). OK, possibly I have done something really stupid, but maybe someone has some performance tips for me. I am reluctant to use any of the real DB interfaces, since the data is only imported once, and then never changed, only read. BTW: Is there any ruby tool/app/class which observes memory usage?
