Sounds good (well, not the kick to the head part :).  The more modules we 
get ported to Ruby, the better.

regexps are actually objects in Ruby, this could possibly give the Ruby 
version a different flavor and perhaps offers some possiblities that 
wouldn't exist in the Perl version.
