Subject: Ruby and Swig??

hello

according to swig.org Swig works also with Ruby.
I need create a ruby interface to a C library.

are there any additional information on Swig and Ruby
beside swig.org ??

are there examples in the RAA which are using swig??

I wonder when it is a good idea to use swig and when to 
write the extensions by hand ?
are there performance differences ??
