I like the pattern too. Incidentally, I created a weak, generic
implementation of it called SignalerListener back when I was feeling my way
around Ruby. You can find it on RAA under Design Patterns.

It's not that hard a pattern to implement in Ruby, but a standard, featureful
interface would be nice. It also has uses outside of GUIs, so a generic
pattern module would be best.
