Good points.  I wonder what matz is willing to turn over.  If it's the 1.8 line,
then the next release should probably be 1.8.8 and represent a
continuation of the 1.8.6 line.  If he wants to maintain a 1.8.X and 1.9.X
line, then I think we need to think about either a 1.8.6.X or a RubyClassic
1.0 (or something like it)
