Not yet.  I'll try to get a prerelease out in the next few days.

Agreed.  At a higher level, at least, working with archives should be
pretty generic.

How about Archive::open(), which automatically detects type and returns
the appropriate object? :)

Yes, Tar::Reader supports each[_entry] and returns Tar::Entry objects.
