I personally don't think the list should be split. By having it all in one 
list I get exposed to areas am probably not even aware of and may spark my 
interest to do some research in that area. I prefer having one list.

Tobias makes a small fallacy IMHO, ruby-talk is not always 100-150 messages 
per day, i'd say it averages 70-80'ish per day. I know this because at the 
end of doing a Ruby Weekly News session we include the message count for the 
week, I also read most of these posts in an attempt to make the RWN. 
Sometimes it can take small sprints of high volume but it isn't sustained at 
what you have stated above.  This thread alone has increased the messages 
20'ish. I'm not sure what is so hard about hitting 'delete' on 
threads/messages that don't interest you - parse it and be done with it.

For those that are concerned with missing out on announcements both on the 
list and through the RAA we summarize the weeks announcements on the Ruby 
Weekly News, and all past entries of the RWN are kept for later reference for 
those that desire to read them. Dave Thomas has mentioned in passing that the 
RWN could be set up as some sort of one-way mailing list as well. People who 
feel the volume is too much but still want to be in touch with the Ruby world 
will be able to subscribe to that.

My vote is to _not_ separate into separate lists.
