Actually, people sending messages to the mailing lists wouldn't have to tag at all - it would be automatic, if you send email to the ruby-dev list then it'll have [ruby-dev] appended to the start of the subject (isn't that how it works on the mailing list now?) It's the people posting via the newsgroup who would have to 'manually' append the [ruby-] to their subject when they post if they want their posting to get to a certain specific list as opposed to the generic [ruby-talk] list.
