hello, I didn't follow this discussion from the start, but here is what
I'm thinking now (but I could change my opinion :->)

1)TK *is* a standard toolkit that exist on many platforms, and is
distributed with every Ruby distribution, so I choosed it for my program
developments (and I find it nice and powerful).

2) The better thing I would like for Ruby, is to have its own GUI,
developped in Ruby, based on a low-level graphic library, like JAVA2
did. So you need only to distribute a low-level C lib adapted for each
system.
 
  Ruby would be very powerful to do that, and it would be easy to
extend/modify for any programmer.
