A bit off topic here, but what you seem to be thinking of is a very common
*misquote*.

What (IIRC) Hobbes actually said was that "a FOOLISH consistency ...".

There are many types of consistency, corresponding in part to many types of
purposeful categorization, ranging from foolish to valuable.

By the way, it is logically hypocritical for a proponent of inconsistency to
attack proponents of consistency (who, after all, holds an inconsistent
position with respect to the critic of consistency). Of course it is also
logically hypocritical for a proponent of inconsistency to uphold
inconsistency (which involves a consistent discrimination between
consistency and inconsistency to identify each position as such).
