At the moment, for initial learning, I'd say go for the PP book. Ruby in a Nutshell has only a small section on the language; most of it is a reference manual. I received The Ruby Way about a week ago and it's nice if you've already learned a bit of Ruby. It's kind of like a Ruby Cookbook. It has a nice section at the front reviewing the language and making a lot of nice points that clarify how the language works. The rest of the book is comprised of problem/solution style code snippets.
