Why don't you use YAML?

>> { :qwe => "asd"}.to_yaml
=> "--- \n:qwe: asd\n"

>> YAML.load(({ :qwe => "asd"}.to_yaml))
=> {:qwe=>"asd"}


It works for most of things.
