One way I know is to use pty module like this:

require 'pty'
def ssh(host, passwd)
  PTY.spawn("/usr/local/bin/ssh #{host}"){|rio, wio, pid|
    wio.sync = true
    rio.expect(/^Password.*: /){
      wio.print(passwd,"\n")
    }
    ...
  }
end
ssh("foo.org", "secret")
