Hi Sijo, 
if it's a string, then treat it like a string,

irb(main):002:0> sd_ticket_end_date= "15/01/2008"
=> "15/01/2008"

irb(main):004:0> d,m,y=sd_ticket_end_date.split "/"
=> ["15", "01", "2008"]


irb(main):011:0> m+"/"+d+"/"+y
=> "01/15/2008"

or the fancy,

irb(main):009:0> [m,d,y].join "/"
=> "01/15/2008"


basically, just relax and play w ruby...
