Hmm, I couldn't reproduce the segfault by

  ruby 1.6.6 (2001-12-26) [i686-linux]
  ruby 1.6.6 (2002-01-08) [i686-linux]
  ruby 1.7.2 (2001-12-13) [i686-linux]
  ruby 1.7.2 (2002-01-08) [i686-linux]

It prints:

  "#<DRbObject:0x4025b9fc @ref=538108454, @uri=\"druby://localhost:1955\">"

(if you put "p" at the beginning of the last line of global_accessor.rb).
What's the difference?
