Hi all, i have been programming Ruby for a few months now and i have started using it in a new recent project in my company. This project deals in part with some Telnet stuff. The Ruby script runs from a Windows 2000 target and connects to some QNX nodes by FTP or Telnet. These nodes run under QNX version 4.24/4.25 and 6.1 (Neutrino). Everything works fine with Neutrino 6.1 when i try to connect by Telnet but i systematically fail connecting to 4.24/4.25 nodes by Telnet. 'Fail connecting' means that the Net::Telnet.new class method exit with a timeout exception. Here is the guilty line : Net::Telnet.new( {'Host' => targetIP, 'Timeout' => 400, "Telnetmode" => true } ) When i change the targetIP value with the one of a valid QNX 6.1 (Neutrino) node everything works fine. I have no problems with the FTP class. I have checked all the Telnet services (using inet.conf, netstat, ... ) in the QNX nodes and everything seems to be OK. Moreover, i succeed connecting to QNX 4.24/4.25 nodes when trying to connect to these nodes with MFCs methods or the basic Windows (2000) commandline FTP application. I really don't understand why this does not work. I have chosen the Ruby solution for this project because i love this programmaing language and because it is a really breath-taking and enthousiastic (and very production-speed friendly) one but the point is that all the project lies in the Ruby layer and these problems are really crucial. Did anyone have experimented such issues with QNX 4.24/4.25 Telnet ? Any hint would be greatly appreciated. Alexandre Abreu,
