Yes, for me too. I need to scan through hundred(s) of ruby-talk emails, 
and need to be able to delete many, because I don't have the time to 
read all.

*Anything* in the subject should tell me it's a ruby-talk message.

If the
  [ruby-talk:99999]
has been removed because of threading and the numbers, perhaps
  [ruby-talk]
would be a solution.

That's for example how the
    [svg-developers]
do it; works well for me.
