Let me just add that people on Windows platform might want to check out
Clean instead. The languages are very similar but Clean compiles to faster
and smaller binaries, the compiler is much faster and the language and
dev env have some other nifty features. The performance of the resulting
binaries is actually very impressive for a lazy functional language.
