Hello,

Ruby/zlib 0.5.0-pre1 was released. Available from:

  http://www.blue.sky.or.jp/atelier/ruby/ruby-zlib-0.5.0-pre1.tar.gz

This is pre-release; tests and documents are not sufficient yet.
There is several incompatible changes from 0.4.0, for example:

  * The names of almost classes and constants are changed.
    All classes are now defined under Zlib. The obsoleted names are
    also available for backward compatibility.

      + Deflate -> Zlib::Deflate
      + Inflate -> Zlib::Inflate
      + Zlib::Gzip -> Zlib::GzipFile
      + GzipReader -> Zlib::GzipReader
      + GzipWriter -> Zlib::GzipWriter
      + and so on..

  * You must close GzipWriter explicitly due to Ruby's limitation.
  * Sanity checks for arguments for {Inflate,Deflate}.new are removed.
    That is, you can use negative wbits.

Although I've tried to add support for bzip2 (libbz2), I gave up since
I've had no time for Ruby/zlib.

Note that Ruby/zlib 0.5.0-pre1 can't be compiled with Ruby-1.7.
I recognize that adaptation to Ruby-1.7 is important task for 0.5.0
series.
