Unfortunately that doesn't work on Windows at all. Your best bet is to either track down the person who created that gem and see if he'll fix it, download the source and fix the gem yourself, or do what Mark Bates suggested and use one of the other supported databases. You could "fake it" by creating a script or executable named 'uname' or maybe even an alias, but if it takes actions based on the output generated by uname it's quite likely it'll contain other dependencies on Unix/Linux.
