Though, Twitter is the most *visible* Rails application. What about github, Gitorious, 37signal's range of applications? How those compare user-wise would be interesting to see. However, another interesting metric would be the amount of start ups using Rails or Ruby to get a real fast time-to-market. In the end, though, all this is more of an e-penis contest, than of real worth.
