Because Linux

I did that for a while for precisely that reason, but switched it around
when I either couldn't get linux to support all of my hardware devices or
couldn't get VMWare to virtualize those devices so that I could run the
Windows software I needed (i can't remember which, that was a year and a
half ago).

Maybe I should try it again.
