I agree with this as well. I believe that editing responsiveness is crucial. You can implement a world of wonderful features, but poor responsiveness can make it all but unusable. I certainly would be willing to buy the idea that basic editing could be responsive in pure Ruby. But by the time you get to the higher level functions that require real-time parsing and reparsing of incomplete code, I would be worried that things could slow down considerably. Curt
