Spike is like a quick proof of concept. Something done to find out 
what is really involved. Should be quick. Should give you a feel for 
what is involved. Should be thrown away once you have enough 
information about the problem.

It's an eXtreme programming term AFAIK.

I'm anxious to use FreeRIDE and look forward to seeing it in action!
