Subject: [ruby-talk:29789] Fetch a character from keyboard buffer

What is the win32api call in ruby to fetch the next character from the
keyboard buffer?  I am writing a ruby program which needs to
fetch charactersfrom thekeyboard buffer and envoke a procedure/function
to process the character including extended characters.

Can anyone provide me a snippet of ruby code to accomplish this function.
